#624 - "Now You Sea It, Now You Don't"

An excellent puzzle written by one of the innovators of the meta crossword format. It comes out every Friday at noon and increases in difficulty throughout the month. Available for modest subscription (worth every cent) here: www.xwordcontest.com

Week 3 of 5. This weekโ€™s contest answer, which is 13 letters long (Matt advises us count carefully!), is something he hopes we have with this puzzle.

Has anyone else not gotten the puzzle yet? Ten names already on the board, but my inbox is empty. :?

Beam me up! 2.5-ish seems about right for a 5-week month.

Brian, I got the email at 12:02...maybe email Matt?

Got it! I think I actually have the couple of months I spent solving PGW puzzles to thank for the quick solve here. Week 2.5 is about right.

Interesting. Plays like a week 2 as is, but I'm curious how hard it would be without the hit-you-over-the head aspect.

Beam me up!

I agree that Matt may not have needed to hint quite as directly at the mechanism. To me this was about a Week 2.5, whereas with a bit more subterfuge it might easily have been a true Week 3.

In any case ... fun!

Got it quickly. It does play like a week 2, but there are 5 weeks this month.

I have what has to be the answer. But there's this thing that's bugging me...
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.

I just wanted to point out my personal mention on Mr. Gaffney's recap page today. I get very braggy about the simple things.

WAY too much teaching to do today to get to the puzzle yet. It gives me something to look forward to tonight though.
