Interesting one...I have things that are way too coincidental to not be the metanism, and the stuff I have leans Irish, but it's neither a complete answer nor is the one person I know of with that name Irish....

I enjoyed the last step here. Awaiting a board update.
ETA: 26th on the board. Would complain about Matt's delay leading to a conflict with a work call I had scheduled for 2, but I also had a call scheduled for noon

Pretty sure I've got it, and if I'm right I feckin' LOVE it. (please forgive the language --- it's St. Paddy's Day after all!)

Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.

Had I been online at 2 pm, I might have been in the top ten. But I wasn't and I wasn't.
Hard to believe that this is really a Week 3 and that as of this writing, 10% of the answers are wrong.

I managed to overcomplicate this one as well (as the WSJCC) but I think I'm poised to beam up! Just missed an update though.

Beamed up. Some ambiguity for me, but talked it through with a fellow solver and voila!

I submitted what surely must be the answer. I am a bit worried about 10% of submissions being wrong though.
UPDATE: Beamed aboard at #78. I believe that this is my first sub 100!

Yesterday evening, I had a rabbit hole on the WSJ, which didn't work out at all, so I thought about trying to make a meta with that mechanism. It was unsuccessful. Just as well because the answer was going to be the same famous Irish person as the MGWCC's.
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)
