I'd say I'm safely on dry land...I submitted an answer I'm 99% sure is right. It's battling my Gaffney "SOS" problem - expecting another step when you already have the right answer in front of you.

In an ironic fashion, I am ashore. Nice puzzle! Not terribly difficult and a lot of fun.
I’m sad that I missed the WSJ live event yesterday. It was on my calendar, but work got in the way.

Had land in sight all of yesterday, but needed the currents to shift before I found my way to shore this morning. Perhaps a Bloody Mary to start my day?
Stay well!

Solved at 3:00 AM. Fortunately while I was sleeping! I will elaborate on Monday.

Hmmm. Grid done. See path... Apply logic... get gibberish answer (?!#?#@?) Time to adjust the path a little for me. Very close to shore but not on dry land.

On Shore.
Enjoyed the puzzle very much. Worthy AHA!
Mike Miller, Mike Shenk and Matt Gaffney put on a phenomenal live chat.
Loved the "inside baseball" regarding construction and publishing logistics.
Laughed out loud when noted aspiring constructors can "steal" someone else's block pattern but not their grid or clues!
At almost exactly the same age as Mike Shenk, I started solving at beginning of the "new wave", late 1970s.
Anyone on board with horror stories of the erudite "old wave"?
Looking forward to next week's event.
Hope everyone has a safe and nice weekend.

This nudge is brought to you by the letters, W, E, N, D, & Y and by the number X.
X! - X! - X! - X! Let's sing a song of X!
How many is X?
[Edit1: Thoughtful input from more intelligent Muggles than me demanded change to original post. (TY!)]

The Wall Street Journal posts it online with the following day's crossword's PDF (usually Monday's, unless Monday is a non-publishing holiday), at Midnight Sunday ET.
We also post it on this site, in each puzzle's Topic & HERE.
[Edit1: The readers' explanations & comments, here, far surpass those on any other crossword blog. ]

The deadline is 11:59 pm on Sunday night. About a minute later the WSJ publishes the solution, and it usually is posted in here on Monday morning. Take a look at page 18 of the thread for last week's "City Blocks" puzzle (or, likely, page 18 in any week's puzzle thread ) to see an official solution.
There's also a good blog called crosswordfiend.com that will have the solution and their writers' commentary (and reader comments) up on Monday morning....

Ashore with some reservations and a question for the editors.
