I can see why using pen and paper would help on this one.tmitchell300 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 2:27 pm On shore. Very impressed with the construction of this one. Looked at it on Friday on AcrossLite, and got absolutely nowhere. Resolved on paper on Saturday morning and all became clear.

Welcome back and Stay safe. I have been tracking the virus (nerdy plus we were supposed to go to Italy and France in April) and see that there is a significant jump in Covid cases this month and last month in Spain. The good news is that the death rate remains very low.tigerfly222 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 9:19 am Checking in for the first time in many weeks! Still sunny and warm here in Barcelona.
Successfully solved this week's meta. That makes 2 in a row, a streak I am sure will be speedily broken.
I trust Spain is as beautiful as it was when we were there 10 years ago. Unfortunately we missed Barcelona but that is a good reason to go back. For anyone who has not been to Spain put it on your bucket list - people are friendly, food is great, tons to see no matter where you go. And driving around is a piece of cake. We went from Madrid to Toledo to Cordoba to Granada to Seville over the course of two weeks. All self guided with zero problems.

It took a little nudge from the Cruise Director, but I am now safely ashore.

Wrapped this one up yesterday afternoon. Today getting caught up on a plethora of recordings on the DVR. Up now, Iron Chef America in Battle Artichoke. Iron Chef Zakarian, as usual, is making cocktails - this time with Cynar Saluti!

I am just not seeing this one. This time last week, I was already much farther along! What's going on, and how is this easy? Maybe I just need more coffee... that will help no matter what.

Finally. Broke a four-week dry spell being lost at sea (if that makes sense) with this one. Found the grid this week to be tougher than the meta.

Bob--you mistakenly had me on shore. But you were prescient, because now I am ashore! I was sitting down on my break this morning--with this as my view--and it suddenly clicked.

I love Maine, but 27 deg before October may put me off moving there! Brrrrr!MaineMarge wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 7:14 am Note the ever growing woodpile created by the resident Paul Bunyan. This is northern Maine, so that kitchen wood fire feels good this 27 degree morning.
Still on board - a gluhwein please Isaac and can we close that door please?

To try to make my solves as "pure" as possible, I stay away from these boards until I either solve it, or get utterly frustrated. While loading this page I saw that some posters are saying that it's easy, which is frustrating to those who are still struggling. I just solved it, and am quite happy to be on shore. I can say that I did not find this to be easy at all, it was quite a struggle. I want to say more, but I'll wait until after the solution is revealed to avoid even inadvertent spoilers....

They’re ALL “easy” once you find the answer. Keep at it. I did NOT find this one a gimme.
Some hit you at once, some take a while to crack.

I got there with a decent nudge, so will not submit. IMHO there are things that take this out of the “easy” category, but I take my hat off to those who usually struggle but breezed through this one.

On shore. Got this one pretty quickly after a bit of thinking and a nice aha moment. Good one!
