I do add a Sam's & other local suds.

Bearcats tonight!

I do appreciate the Warsteiner options!

It’s gonna be a tough year rooting for all the “B” teams.

Bearcats. (vs Miami)
Bengals (vs. Baltimore)
Boilermakers ( my alma mater)
Buckeyes ( adopted team now with 2 kids in Columbus at OSU ) I was there for the last two games- next weeks going to be a bellwether game against ND.

Don't forget, 8PM tonight is Isaac's Last Call Zoom. Anyone who's still at sea or just wants to chat about it is welcome!

I’m back after a couple of busy weeks where I was traveling and unable to even look at the Friday puzzle. Fairly confident I’m ashore.

Ashore! Finally back! I guess it’s harder to find time to do crosswords once you’re married 😂 enjoyed the mechanism for this one though.

Safely ashore in the nick of time.
Slight nudge from one of my two sons— the three of us frequently collaborate.
Enjoyable.

Good evening muggles

Our final count is 7 on the ship and 210 on the shore

Good luck winning the mug and have a great week

Gotta love Google translation - replaces the French I forgot since school! ;)
Learning French was my post-retirement project.

Je ne peux pas parler tres bien, mais je peux bien lire le francais.

Hope I did that right. Hard to write, especially with autocorrect.

Ashore at the last hour. I finally found it after putting the puzzle down a few times.

welp, I tried X^2 of the dates for giant numbers that didn't do anything

Didn't think to do the square root - *slaps forehead*

Something about Global Powers suggested to me Russia, the USA, Germany, and Japan. Related clues led nowhere. High School math led me to the answer. Brilliant.

That's all I have to say about that.

This mathematician was really hoping to see a power greater than 2, but square roots are fun too 😉

I do know about square roots, but Bob had to help me with this one.
I’m much more into peony roots.

Here is a young newly dug peony root in the fall. Already showing, the pink and white buds will be next year’s blooming stems. Several more than the 8 you see from this year.

Now back to math class.

Well then this is appropriate for many of my Meta solving sessions:

Le Guignon
Pour soulever un poids si lourd,
Sisyphe, il faudrait ton courage!
Bien qu'on ait du coeur à l'ouvrage,
L'Art est long et le Temps est court.

Loin des sépultures célèbres,
Vers un cimetière isolé,
Mon coeur, comme un tambour voilé,
Va battant des marches funèbres.

— Maint joyau dort enseveli
Dans les ténèbres et l'oubli,
Bien loin des pioches et des sondes;

Mainte fleur épanche à regret
Son parfum doux comme un secret
Dans les solitudes profondes.
— Charles Baudelaire
