A Farewell to R's
Ahoy Muggles!
It's great to be back on MMM after after filling in for @benchen71 on MOAT and @madhatter5 on MEOW.
If you celebrated Passover or Easter over the weekend, I hope you had a nice holiday. And speaking of holidays, did you know that today is Patriots' Day? If you're not familiar, Patriots' Day commemorates the battles of Lexington and Concord, and it's also the day they run the Boston Marathon. (In fact, @whimsy is probably handing out bottles of water to the runners as we speak.) As you will see, Patriots' Day fits nicely with today's puzzle - "A Farewell to R's", which I consider a companion piece to that other great classic - "Warren Piece".
I'd like to thank @Abide, @Al Sisti, @whimsy, @boharr, and @Joe Ross for their invaluable reviews and technical help.
The meta answer is a fitting color.

Metanism … I love it! Have Muggles been saying this? Or did you just coin the term. (Sorry, I’m often oblivious.)

Some Muggles have been saying this. I claim no credit for coining it but cannot remember who said it first.ChrisKochmanski wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 10:12 amMetanism … I love it! Have Muggles been saying this? Or did you just coin the term. (Sorry, I’m often oblivious.)

It's possible "metanism" was first used on XWord Muggles by @Jeffrey in this post on WSJCC "Three-Pointers" - January 7, 2022 (MMXXII).Dplass wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 10:14 amSome Muggles have been saying this. Off the couch, which is the first step in running a marathon, right? So I did that today...
Clever and fun, Cap'n!

I got it. I couldn't tell if what I saw at first was an easter egg or the first thread of unraveling. Went off on a wing and a prayer and ... got on off the coach.
very creative.
very creative.
I guess I should change my signature, and start promoting this meta: Hungry Little Creature. I was going to sent it to people for testing but I dropped the ball on it.

Off the couch and wearing my 2004 BM tee shirt today (rooter, not runner).
Arrr, maybe we know why our busy and talented MMM constructor is Cap'n Rick and not Pirate Rick.

I had floated the term meta-chanism a while back, but it never really took. I think I like metanism better anyway.Joe Ross wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 10:22 amIt's possible "metanism" was first used on XWord Muggles by @Jeffrey in this post on WSJCC "Three-Pointers" - January 7, 2022 (MMXXII).Dplass wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 10:14 amSome Muggles have been saying this. Okay, I’ll claim “metanism,” as I have been trying to push it for some time now. Though, to be honest, it’s like when I create a chord progression and think, “That’s pretty cool, I am creative!” Then later realize someone has already thought of it. So I think I thought it up. But I’m willing to admit I might have read it elsewhere without realizing it. Would have to look back in my posts.joequavis wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 3:03 pmI had floated the term meta-chanism a while back, but it never really took. Then again, I am in Berlin, it’s after 10pm, and I’m two Negroni’s in. So my memory may not be clear right now.
