Off the couch. Very nice!
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

We loved this! We learned a new word and definitely plays to our sense of humor. True confession... While we confirmed the answer on Crosshare... One little piece... not 💯% sure on.

Off the couch - finally got back to this - loved it - great puzzle, tough grid, and satisfying solve - thank you, Jay. One thing stood out in solving and will be curious to hear if the same was true for others after the reveal.

Grid done and working on the meta - probably tomorrow when it is raining

But here is what really happens when you do 43D

or if you shoot a raw egg with a pellet gun

What a difference a day makes, 24 little hours.
And 45 solvers.
.
Solvers.jpg
.
Several solvers were temporarily sidetracked by finding one element of the solution that was much better than the officially "correct" one. I wish I could have done it that way, but as I said in yesterday's intro, these were not easy to come up with. You can throw rotten tomatoes at me on Zoom tonight. I'll be wearing a mask.

Mostly off the couch. I submitted the correct answer on my second try but still have not found one small part. I believe that I have found the element Bird Lives mentions above.

Since the first tally, a few more solvers have turned up

46. CPJohnson
47. lbray53
48. Johnny Luau
49. michaelm
50. rjy

For those still in need of help, a few nudges.

The seven theme entries are symmetrically placed and are longer than the other entries. Some of them are awkward, not exactly phrases you might hear in the ordinary course of events.

It might help to say them out loud, especially while remembering that . . . ..

. . . Metathesis is “the transposition of sounds or syllables in a word or of words in a sentence.”

The entry at 88A is not the match-up for either 31A or 78A, though the puzzle would have been better if it had been.

An alternative title for the puzzle was “Eponym”

Spoiler I believe spoiler 4 should be ...either 31A or 78A...no?
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!
