Solved again and enjoyed again, Cap'n Rick - very nice, as always

Another excellent offering from Cap'n Rick! Off the couch. Figuratively.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

Not seeing this in spite of others doing so. Hoping for Wednesday nudges.

Day 2 - Well, based on the feedback I've been receiving, I may have underestimated the difficulty on this one. So let's upgrade the rating to something closer to Level 3 (or "A Bit Choppy" on my scale).

8 more Muggles have vacated their divans:

Laura M
MaineMarge
Wendy Walker
A Nonymus
CPJohnson
BrennerTJ
LB800
Bbaack

No worries, the Wednesday Nudges will be here soon!

Wednesday Nudges

Aw heck, I have a busy day tomorrow, and Wednesday is less than an hour away. Let's release the Nudges a wee bit early and see if we can get some more solvers on the board.

Some of my favorite action movies include "A Good Day to Die Hard", "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", and "Dog Day Afternoon".

Speaking of "DAY", isn't that Dirty Harry catchphrase from the movie "Sudden Impact"? That's another one of my favorites.

Five grid entries can be "suddenly impacted" by "DAY" to form other words/phrases.

The 5 new "DAY" words/phrases become alternate answers to 5 other clues.

The first letters of the original answers to those 5 other clues spell the meta answer, which may indeed be heard upon "Sudden Impact"!

Good luck!

Confirmed on Crosshare.
I needed a nudge last night from a fellow muggle. It amazes me sometimes just how blind and dense I can be!
This was a very doable and fun meta. Thanks, Cap'n Rick.

Off the coach..er, couch after nudges showed I was on the wrong coach on the wrong train on the wrong track.
Really well put together meta, @Cap'n Rick ! Loved it❤️

Some, sort of, well-trained clematis

Off the couch after the second nudge. I should have made better use of an early Google search.

I needed only the first nudge to découcher, as the French say. (Actually they don't. It means to stay out all night.)

Off the couch....the second nudge did it for me. should have seen it coming....but then it wouldn't have been a sudden impact.

Amazing what a second look will do! I'm off the couch! But I'm tired, so I'll go back there to take a nap. Thanks for the puzzle!

I’m off the couch. Only needed the first nudge to stop looking for the meta in all the wrong places.
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

I believe I am off the couch.
Excellent mechanism and enjoyable puzzle. Very Shenkian as opposed to Gaffneyesque (IMO).😁
