Off the couch; crosshare confirmed. So pleased to solve one by myself after last week’s efforts, though I did manage to start down at least 2 incorrect paths. Thanks, Cap’n Rick!

Believe I am off the couch. Got a kick out of the rabbit holes in this one. Another elegant muggle meta by the Captain!

Hi @DavyGravy. Yes, I will release a few nudges tomorrow a.m., but I can also provide pre-nudges via PM to anyone who's interested.

Okay, it's Nudge Wednesday! Let's see if we can get a few more Muggles off their couches.

Vegas is a popular gambling mecca, but you should ignore the slots, sports teams, and other red herrings in the grid.

The clue and answer for 11-Down provide hints to the meta answer and positioning in the grid.

Sorry WSJ meta solvers, but there is a "chip" and a "Jack" associated with this puzzle too. :D

Sometimes the wording of the clues comes in "handy" when constructing (and solving) metas.

You gotta know when to hold 'em, and I'd really love to be holding this hand in this game!

Yay for nudges! I'm off the couch.

Thanks for the puzzle, @Cap'n Rick.
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Oh, goodness.

Nudged off. I'm calling it a win. Now on to Ben's MOAT which probably, alas, involves me just not getting it rather than a simple case of ignorance (which always makes for a good excuse).

Really nice natural construction and plenty of reasonable distractions. Feel a little silly having needed the nudge.
I guess I should change my signature, and start promoting this meta: Hungry Little Creature. I was going to sent it to people for testing but I dropped the ball on it.
