I solved the WSJ Saturday puzzle online. I completed all the theme answers, with help from the crossing words. However, for the first time, I did so without understanding what the theme was about.
Please, someone, explain it.

Took me a bit to figure out.
The previous clues are all “not” plus a 2 letter word. Put a comma between those letters.
So 23A is “Not me”. Read it as “not M, E.”
25A, which references it, is pale beach. The M in Palm Beach was changed to an E.
