Got it! That was really a fun puzzle. it took me a little longer than some others to get the meta-- I appreciate the guidance that wasn't too hard, that helped me step back and just look at it for a minute.
I really enjoyed all the spooky clues throughout the puzzle, a fun way to celebrate the holiday.

On the beach, after fighting two self-inflicted obstacles working together in perfect harmony: (1) overthinking and (2) ignoring a bluntly framed endogenous nudge. It was very satisfying today, revisiting the meta and quickly discovering the errors of my ways. But sheeeesh . . .

Hi I'm new here! 
Have lurked for a couple of weeks, attempted the meta puzzles for a few months, and have been a diehard WSJ crossword enthusiast for years. (True story: I would not leave for the hospital to deliver either of my two daughters (16 and 13) without my crossword puzzles).
I believe that I am on shore this week. Nice to meet you all!
Time for a nice glass of sauvignon blanc!
