Oh no! Yet another puzzle I think I'll be adding to my daily roster - a trivia game called
Thrice, built by pub trivia hosting company
Geeks Who Drink.
How to play:
5 rounds of brain gymnastics, each from a different category
3 questions per round, all with the same answer (how convenient!)
Go ahead and guess, a wrong answer is the same as passing.
Scoring:
1st try = 3, 2nd = 2, 3rd = 1
After that, well...
better luck next question!

I just saw this. Today was my maiden voyage. I got a 12, but I don't think I understood the part about the three questions.

I think that becomes clear if you get a question you're stumped on. For each of the five questions, they prepare three different questions that give you the same answer. So if you don't know the answer in the context of the first question, you might recognize it in terms of the second or third. And presumably the questions get progressively easier within the round.
To make up a silly example (since I didn't save any previous games):
1. Essayist Francis.
2. Actor Kevin.
3. Bring home the ____.
You get 3 points if you can answer it on the first question, 2 for the second, and 1 for the third. Knowing I am looking for the same answer often helps me on the second and third rounds.

That's what I figured,
after I'd completed the game, during which I just gave up on the ones I couldn't get, not realizing that I had chances to answer for fewer points. Oh well, I'll Try Tomorrow (wait, wasn't that a movie with Susan Hayward?).
