#569 - "Weird Neighbors" - April 26, 2019

An excellent puzzle written by one of the innovators of the meta crossword format. It comes out every Friday at noon and increases in difficulty throughout the month. Available for modest subscription (worth every cent) here: www.xwordcontest.com

We finish "Gentle April" with the search for a fourth country, whose name has seven letters, that should also be in the grid but isn't.

Actually got it, even though it involves not one, but two of my weak points! (I won't elaborate because spoilers, but I have a lot of weak points.) I see I'm on the board just after BarbaraK :-)

Got it! Now I'm a little sad because I have no meta to ponder all weekend.

Beam me up, Scotty! :)

Solved, in spite of my effort to ridiculously overcomplicate this. I expect this will be another good week 2 turnout.

I got it after visiting a few places not on the official tour.

Beam me up, Scotty! Pretty impressive how he came up with all that. Relatively quick and fun solve.

Another nice one that felt right in the "Week 2" sweet spot.

I am both looking forward to and also dreading the second half of May when these will start getting harder again. :?

Got it! Amazing puzzle construction! Don't want to say more for fear of giving out a hint.

Very much enjoyed! I was thinking Week 3-level, but others here are viewing it as a Week 2. Maybe ... Week 2.4?? Anyway ..

I hesitated to write "on shore" here, re: MGWCC. Is the whole Love Boat thing only for WSJCC?

No, probably not, because then Robert would need to explain a whole 'nother set of insider-speak to the newbies!

Last week, Heidi suggested a Star Trek theme for the MGWCC board. Once you solve the puzzle, Scotty will beam you back up.

Cool! I'm on the Enterprise. Which is good, because my battle with the Meta Monster nearly destroyed me!

9 in a row! With a Week 1 and Week 2 ahead of me, I have high hopes for 11. After that? I'll need some luck.
