Fall is officially upon us now, so all of the Summer of Solves swag should have been sent out to our Top Ten finishers! Also, before we go on, look at this awesome graphic our designers stayed up nights working on:

And now that I've whetted your appetite (or disgusted you), onward to the new meta!

39. You Know the Score

The answer to the meta is a sports term. (Sorry, @KayW.)

Deadline is Monday, October 10 at 1 PM ET.

Good luck, and may all your solves be beautiful!

Hey how about that? I did! (know the score, that is.)

Thanks for a fun meta that even a non-sportser can solve.

I think I have it. But I found the grid a lot harder than usual.
Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta! :D

I agree the grid has some tough spots and went slower than usual. The cluing is great as always, even the lazy ones lol. And 64-D is an amazing clue. I laughed out loud at that one.

At first, I read the meta clue as "a sports TEAM" and was baffled at the inscrutable second step that never materialized. Nice one, Mikey!

I misread the prompt ... It says sports TERM not sports TEAM

After the deadline - I'd like to think of it as a sudden death win.

Nice puzzle but YEESH the grid, that was a bear!
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!
