Oof, I needed all of the nudges, but I'm off the couch (I think). Thanks for the puzzle, Peter.
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

I thought I was gonna need some of those Cap'n Rick Level 5 nudges, but I finally figured it out. I guess I was handicapped by my two left feet!
Fun puzzle, @Abide.

How this worked:
The Omega-Across EROS is appropriately clued (Valentine's Day reference). That entry also is seen as a mixed up word in the longer clues (ROSE, ORES, SORE, ROES).
So EROS is the entry you need a SYNONYM for. The way the clue reads most people should think of Cupid as the little guy with the bow. Recognizing that many Muggles are more comfortable on couches than going to line dances, high school proms, or wedding receptions, you probably needed to Google "Cupid dance" to find the CUPID SHUFFLE answer.
TL;DR: EROS gets "shuffled".
And yes @Bird Lives this is really a thing!

Prize Winners: THC (red division) and @JeanneC (black division). Keep on shufflin'!

Congratulations to @Abide for pulling off such an elaborate hoax, a premature April Fool’s gag. First he invents a dance whose name he can use in a Valentine’s meta. (I mean, had you ever heard of this dance? Of course not. Neither had I or anyone else.) Then he uses his considerable CGI skills to create videos that you see when you Google said dance, a video of fictitious CGI people doing this fictitious dance.
As for the real answer. The most logical place to start is 1A WELT, not just because it’s the first word but because all of the shuffled EROSes are symmetrically placed, and 1A fits with this symmetry. There aren’t too many synonyms for WELT, though two of them are anagrams (WEAL / WALE). One of those synonyms must be part of a dance. Or maybe it's just WELT and the synonym lies elsewhere.
The other clue/entry that yells for attention is SLANG. The lengthy, elaborate clue has to be there for a reason. So if you anagram that one and the first one and add the definite article to bring the letter-count to 12, you get the answer: THE LENG WALTS – Pennsylvania Dutch dialect for THE LONG WALTZ (when they came to America, the Amish forgot to bring the Z). It's the dance that ends the reception at Amish weddings, harvest festivals, bar mitzvahs, etc. The Leng Walts is a great idea and a great phrase, and you can't blame Scorsese for stealing it.
Anyway, that's my answer and I'm sticking to it. The refusal of Crosshare to acknowledge this answer I can attribute only to a glitch in the software.

Yes, @Abide is REALLY good. He also either 1) built a time machine to send cyborg DJs back to every wedding I've been to in the last 15 years to have them lead this fictitious dance or 2) hypnotized me over the interwebs and implanted false memories of me doing this dance. And no. There's no video. Trust me, NO ONE wants to see me "dance". I'm putting my tinfoil hat back on now.Bird Lives wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 3:45 pm Congratulations to @Abide for pulling off such an elaborate hoax, a premature April Fool’s gag. EDIT: But really, he could have done better at promoting the name while he was fabricating all this. Despite all the times I did that dance, I never knew the name of it or the song until I googled it for this meta. Maybe you're onto something there after all, @Bird Lives...
