MEOW #123 Play Dough

#1

Post by DrTom »

PLAY DOUGH GRAPHIC CS3.jpg
Hopefully this will be a much easier go than the last couple of mine. It was never my intent to throw two fastballs low and inside so I am trying to make it up with this fun and, with luck, eminently solvable meta that is free of any rotten tricks!

The answer is what you do before the play starts.

KITTEN/CALICO
Persian
Puma
Lion

There will be nudges later for anyone who needs them, and of course anytime by PM.

Have FUN!

ERRATA:
1D SHOULD read Christina, the original movie Wednesday
46D should be Hypocrisy free, not Hippocracy free (on my oath it should not!)

Cat's out! Thanks for the puzzle: just the right amount of thinking involved.
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

So I just plain couldn't get my meta based on "Up the Down Staircase" to work.

My challenge it to constructors is to make a meta where the meta, theme or metanism is "Up the Down Staircase".

Got it! Re: the 46D clue, are you referring to Swift's Houyhnhnms? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houyhnhnm

Well I would love to take credit for a very educated, though oblique, reference to Swift's writings but it appears I was a Little Off. Hippocracy (a society ruled by horses) made it all the way to the published version when it was really Hypocrisy I meant. It appears I need to be a bit more hyper critical of my own work!!!

And thank you for helping make it a better experience. Testers are soooo valuable to the process.

Thank you Claudia, it would definitely be less a thumbs up without your assistance. I think I may be the only person more familiar with this particular puzzle than you :D

Yes someone already pointed out that I made an error. Actually, even worse, I knew about it because a tester pointed it out and I THOUGHT I had changed it to the original MOVIE Wednesday, but obviously did not. What a doofus I can be.

I wish I could say "Oh, it looked so familiar"! But alas, my memory has failed me!
