That cat looks like she's having a staycation! Speaking of which...

1. Puzzle #55 recap

Puzzle #55 answer: STAYCATION

Correct entries: 44

Image

Ten entries' clues have the word "STOP" hidden within them, sometimes spanning punctuation and/or spacing. And here they are!

1-A: "Stop, for one" = SIGN
18-A: Cast opening? = TELE
24-A: Birthplace of Aristophanes = ATHENS
26-A: City near Sevastopol = YALTA
40-A: Dystopian author Suzanne = COLLINS
42-D: Common test options = ABC
50-A: 2020 Christopher Nolan film = TENET
54-D: This is a baker's "top" specialty LOL = ICING
69-A: Pontificate with gusto, perhaps = ORATE
71-A: ...speed past the stoplight... = NOGO

The initial letters of these entries spell STAYCATION, the best kind of summer in my book!

2. Leaderboard (now 75 instead of 50 with nudges):

3. We're back to standard MGWCC-ish difficulties. And so, yes, we have a Level 1 to kick off the month of June and the third week of the Summer of Solves!

56. Character Study

The 15-letter answer to the meta is associated with June.

Good luck, and may all your solves be beautiful!

 Why did you ban me from the leaderboard?

Top 25! I think you're at 29th or so currently. (The graphic would be so long, maybe I'll make it multi-column. Give me a day or two.)

Took no googling at all. You can surmise what you wish about schmidzy and me:)

Very cute!

Got it, phew! Nice to have a solving compadre who doesn’t share the same same blind spots… enjoyable, as always, Mikey. Some real groaners in there!

Nice.

Mikey, I’m thinking of making 35a part of my own punny repertoire, if you don’t mind.

Fun trip after I saw the light (which I admit was not immediate). Once that happened no Googling necessary for me either. If I took in all the information, stirred it around until it was completely incorporated so that I could deduce the solution, does that make me solvent?
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!
