Lost in Space
Ahoy Muggles!
Happy Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day! As many of you know, October is a beautiful month here in New England when the foliage becomes ablaze in color - kinda like that big old fireball in the intergalactic image above. While marveling at the scenery along our winding rural byways, one can truly become lost in the beauty of Nature's handiwork. And that brings us to today's meta - "Lost in Space" - which has absolutely nothing to do with New England, deciduous trees, fireballs, or even color. I'd like to thank @Abide, @Al Sisti, @boharr, @whimsy,@MarkWoychick, and @Joe Ross for testing and technical help.
The meta answer is a two-word title.

Difficulty
I created this one a while ago, and I can't quite remember the testers' feedback. Let's call it Level 2 and see what happens.
Nudges are here.
Solution is here.
Good luck!

I did this puzzle at my own space. (I don't just make up a pun like this on the spot - I have to planet.)
Another smooth one from Rick! (Level 2 is solid.) The couch is vacated, but it's 2:20 am, so I'm going back to bed anyway.

Off the couch! Best @Cap'n Rick puzzle ever!
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

FOUND and OTC. I was stumped for a bit. Loved the mechanism and clues.

When I come upon a Cap'n Rick puzzle, I check to see if my name shows up in the intro, simply because it helps reassure me that if I solved it once, I can solve it again!
And if I have difficulty while doing it a second time, I just chalk it up to the fact that he's obviously done some tweaking to it to make it even better.

Took a little and some false starts but in the end the “Captainess” of the puzzle revealed itself.
Thanks Rick, another seaworthy beauty.

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Used to watch Lost in Space as a kid... brought back memories! But OTC, and quite fun and elegant, Cap'n!
