"Treasure Map" by benchen71

Can you storm the castle by getting across the MOAT? A weekly meta crossword constructed by forum member Ben (aka benchen71). These metas range from relatively easy to more challenging, depending on how many Australianisms he puts in them! Puzzles are posted in a new thread every Tuesday, with nudges appearing on Saturdays, and the solution coming out on Mondays. (At least, that's the plan. Given he lives in Australia, and they are so far ahead of the US time-zone-wise, things may get posted early!)

Welcome to...

benchen71's Metas on a Tuesday (MOAT)

Can you storm the castle by getting across the MOAT? Here's another "week 4" challenge for you, rather than frustrating you with an unsolvable "week 5"! The answer to the meta is a poem. (My thanks to @Abide for test solving and helpful suggestions.)

The easiest way to submit is on Crosshare (and you get instant feedback and unlimited attempts!) But you can also PM me with your submission. Either way, I'll compile a list of those who successfully solve the meta.

The solution is here.

Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Crossed the MOAT! Little inklings during the fill turned out to be significant. But then I guess that is almost always true, isn't it!?

Outstanding piece of work!!

I’ve clip-clopped across the moat. Bringing in rabbit furs. Nice puzzle, Ben.

Crossed the MOAT! Had not heard of this poem, but I'm not really into poetry.

Well, it's amusing to see all you people pretending you have solved this puzzle that has no solution that Ben published as a joke but I imagine this will begin to wear thin in a few days..

EDIT: and immediately upon posting my snark I see the things that I had utter no hint or clue to look for yet I was stuck so I might as well look there... and then as I sat with pen in hand working it all out on paper, I get why I was supposed to look.
I guess I should change my signature, and start promoting this meta: Hungry Little Creature. I was going to sent it to people for testing but I dropped the ball on it.

Masterclass in construction. These are difficult to make because there are a lot of constraints. Enjoyable and, another week in a row, I learned something new. Moat crossed

Thanks Ben!
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Crossed the MOAT!

And did so to a few castles in Ireland about 7 years ago. Also drove thru (25A!) Ballyduff and took a pic since Duffy's my "nee" name. :D

And thank you Ben, for a slightly sneaky (for me anyway) but quite impressive puzzle!

We're up to 38 now. Let's see if some nudges help...
