Gold-Plated Record - May 2024

A monthly, music-themed meta crossword published at noon on the first Tuesday of every month. The puzzles increase in difficulty each month, and at year end there is a 13th puzzle (the "Mega-Meta") that invokes each of the 12 monthly puzzles. Currently available at https://pmxwords.com/, as well as through the Washington Post website here: MMMM at WaPo

Oh! Solved the grid this morning and saw step 1, but didn't know what to do with it. I got distracted by a few things. Just came back to it and have worked it out and submitted, awaiting confirmation.

EDIT -- Confirmed, on the board!

Had the main idea but could not make it work last night. Stared at it for over an hour. Picked it up this evening and got the meta in less than 5 min. First MMMM I have gotten in a few months so very happy.

Stay well all

I see the obvious. Counted twelve clues. But how to implement?

Great to see @AnswerPfinder on the byline this month! And what a puzzle! I can't imagine how you all did that. Really hope you'll discuss it in an Outside the Blocks podcast.
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Another nice cover! As is often the case, I like it better than the original.
