Off the sofa! Excellent meta. Thanks, Chris!

Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

I was "Here, There and Everywhere" until I was off the couch (hopefully). Now it's time for some "Golden Slumbers".

Ever since doing this meta I've had a particular 5-word Beatles song stuck in my head...lol. I guess it could be worse.

I have to get to the meta but I must take issue with the "well-known" qualifier. In my mind, there's only 3 Beatles songs that aren't well known and none of them have 5 word titles...

Old Brown Shoe
The Inner Light
Only A Northern Song (which, oddly, I heard on the SXM Underground Garage channel last week)

The only other one I'll allow into the club is "Dr. Robert". That one really hangs in the precipice between.

Well known is kind of relative, as we've seen. I'd never heard of about 50 percent of the songs on their full discography and I'm in the target demographic.

Then.... why must you take issue?

I'd understand if you took issue if the meta were "an obscure 5-word Beatles song". But as the meta is "a well-known 5-word Beatles song" then you should have no issue as this song is well-known by your criteria.

It'd make more sense to take issue that the title is five words, but the song.... has more than 5 words. But that'd be obnoxious.
So I just plain couldn't get my meta based on "Up the Down Staircase" to work.

My challenge it to constructors is to make a meta where the meta, theme or metanism is "Up the Down Staircase".

The clue for 53A is meant to be a nudge.

Likewise for the clue for 6D

And, if you need a push The clue to 70A also is a nudge.

And finally Besides, what can I say?

The spoilers weren't enough for me - I had seen all of that info in the grid beforehand but still couldn't get the meta.
I'm guess I'm not too familiar with the Beatles, and in this case Google provided too much information.
I needed to be dragged of the couch.
Thanks for the (correcting nudges and the) puzzle!
