Tried desperately to overcomplicate it and finally realized that my problem was one of a mistaken fill not a mistaken idea. Submitted and waiting but I'm pretty certain.

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

I started doing MGWCC in September of 2016 with puzzle #431. I remember well #500, the "Halfway there" puzzle, and feeling envious of those who'd been solving from the beginning and a bit bummed that I'd missed so many, even while laughing at myself as there were still years yet to come.
Now I'm just looking forward to the next 250. And I suspect that when those are done, Matt will continue to entertain us with even more meta puzzles, somehow and somewhere.

If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

This. I'm not sure exactly when I started. Somewhere in the mid 300s. But had the same feeling of envy that I'd missed so many.BarbaraK wrote: ↑Fri Oct 14, 2022 6:31 pm I started doing MGWCC in September of 2016 with puzzle #431. Wow, congratulations! 12:01 -- do you mind if I ask if you solved the grid or deduced the answer in another way?

Awaiting beam up with confidence.
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Beamed up. Started the puzzle late, as in 4am (don't ask), an appropriately spooky time. Especially given the bright moonlight coming through my window at that hour.
But the puzzle was a lot more fun than spooky.
And it wasn't "Mwa Ha Ha!" like last year's "You'll Never Solve This One!" WSJ puzzle of his!
