Nudged across the moat. Good one, Ben!

Gah!
Came back to work on this one again because I knew nudges were available; hadn't even pulled up the puzzle again; and didn't even get or need to open the nudges themselves, because of well, something... And now I have the answer!
Going to Crosshare now to enter it and make it official.
This particular fort was destroyed in the late 1700's.
Later on, land reclamation connected Castle Island to the mainland and it's now a State Park.
Likewise, I finally made the connection!

Nudge #1 was all it took. Silly me, worrying about my non-STEMminess.
The other Wendy.

MOAT has been crossed after one of the comments weirdly welded the last link in the catenary that supported the bridge over troubled waters.

Neat that I solved it today (oops, clock just ticked over, so make that yesterday).
No nudges needed; just was busy with CCCC until this evening.

If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Crossed the MOAT. If I would have remembered that there are no penalties for guessing on Crosshare, I could have finished Tuesday. I dismissed the answer out of hand. Silly me.
My avatar proves that it is sometimes better to be lucky than good!

Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

There have been no further solvers, so here is the solution to "Physics 101":
The funnest part of this week's meta was introducing the nudges and then using the introduction as the first nudge!
