Good morning Muggles! This week's meta is "Let It Be" - - oddly enough I was working on this when the Beatles documentary "Get Back" came out (which covers the band's making of the albums Let It Be and Abbey Road). Total coincidence!
I'm a huge Beatles fan, and (about 25 years ago) was a bit frustrated that none of my three children had any interest in their music . . . until I played "Maxwell’s Silver Hammer". They loved that song (lyrics mostly of course), and now they are all on board. (This has nothing to do with the meta by the way . . .)
Anyway, as usual PM me with answers up until Saturday at 4 p.m.; I'll post leaderboards from time to time. I'm out-of-pocket until later this afternoon due to travel, but will catch up by end of day.
I'm a decent and average beatles fan but somehow the Gen-Yers I trivia with have become convinced I'm obsessive and know everything about them (probably because they know nothing) (They also think I'm an expert in the Teletubbies "How can you know all that" they ask. I answer "There's only four of them. There just isn't that much to know.")
36D "It's a real thing" .... well, obviously!
So I just plain couldn't get my meta based on "Up the Down Staircase" to work.
My challenge it to constructors is to make a meta where the meta, theme or metanism is "Up the Down Staircase".
I'll be spinning some Beatles, including the title song, to see if that helps with the meta! (For what it's worth, spinning the Paula Abdul album didn't help with the Gaffney a couple weeks ago!)
Less cross words, more crosswords.

Wonderful, nostalgic puzzle for this Boomer. Mark and I were shopping on Saturday morning and what were they playing on the Walmart PA system but ... "Straight Up"! Yet another day of that earworm!
