To quote the Mamas & the Papas: "Monday, Monday, so good to me..."

Good morning! This week's MMM is not quite my debut but I'm still pretty new at constructing puzzles - this is number three for me. I have no idea how to gauge the quality or the difficulty of the meta. Let me know what you think. Keep in mind that I'm in a different time zone, 7 hours ahead of EST, so it may take me a while to respond.

Thanks to Peter Abide the overseer of the MMM, Al Sisti the willing test solver, Joe Ross the provider of all things technical, and Will Pfadenhauer for making a couple of suggestions at the early stages of construction that eventually turned this puzzle from a numbers-in-parentheses mess to the one presented here.

It's titled 'Splitting Hairs'. The answer to the meta is an 8-letter adjective.

You know the drill - PM me with your answer or check on Crosshare, I'll post a leaderboard throughout the week, and nudges if I can think of any on Wednesday.
