"Movie Trilogy" by benchen71

Can you storm the castle by getting across the MOAT? A weekly meta crossword constructed by forum member Ben (aka benchen71). These metas range from relatively easy to more challenging, depending on how many Australianisms he puts in them! Puzzles are posted in a new thread every Tuesday, with nudges appearing on Saturdays, and the solution coming out on Mondays. (At least, that's the plan. Given he lives in Australia, and they are so far ahead of the US time-zone-wise, things may get posted early!)

Welcome to...

benchen71's Metas on a Tuesday (MOAT)

Can you storm the castle by getting across the MOAT? Ah, movie trilogies: the best things in life come in threes! Well, sometimes. Hopefully, your knowledge of movies will assist you to the meta answer which is an ice-cream.

The easiest way to submit is on Crosshare (and you get instant feedback and unlimited attempts!) But you can also PM me with your submission. Either way, I'll compile a list of those who successfully solve the meta.

Movie Trilogy - PUZ
Movie Trilogy - PDF
Movie Trilogy - spreadsheet

Nudges are here.
The solution is here.

Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

MOAT's crossed - some googling required, but I got it.
Thanks for the puzzle!

Definitely needed google for parts, but happened to google the correct thing first and was off to the races. Brings back some childhood memories.
Good stuff, thanks. :)

LLOM (luckily limped over most) played a hunch with something that caught my attention and was right. I won’t claim I “solved” because it was sheer luck, but I’ll take it.
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Amazing.... I have not been able to do *any* meta since last wednesday's mad hatter. Not a one. I have utterly no clue on this one.
So I just plain couldn't get my meta based on "Up the Down Staircase" to work.

My challenge it to constructors is to make a meta where the meta, theme or metanism is "Up the Down Staircase".

Terrible movie-goer; much better googler.

Basically just snuck by while authorities were otherwise occupied.

Crossed a la Moat.

Something sounded familiar and Google led to the answer. I sounds like a few others found this the same way.
