Also - further challenge for the literate: in the vein of last week’s Gaffney puzzle, what if instead of “Singer from Honolulu” the clue had been “king who vows, ‘never at my hands / will the traitor be honored above the patriot’”. (apply to meta; answer will be a literary term)

Do you mean 15a Singer from Honolulu? Or are you referring to another puzzle?HeadinHome wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 10:54 am Also - further challenge for the literate: in the vein of last week’s Gaffney puzzle, what if instead of “Singer from Hong Kong” the clue had been “king who vows, ‘never at my hands / will the traitor be honored above the patriot’”. Not my wheelhouse, but did finally figure it out. Oddly, something I thought might be relevant turned out to be, but not at all in the way I was thinking.
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Good morning muggles. Another interesting challenge from Mr. Shenk.
We currently have 105 muggles basking on the beach
And for those who do have not hit the head slapping, why didn't I see it before, moment, there will be a zoom call at 4:30 pm today. The link is at the top of this page.

btw, shout out to Rob Reiner for 3D, the best (and only) rockumentary of all times. May have to find some time this weekend in b/n some football games to watch it again for the nth time.
Go Dawgs (and Fighting Irish) this weekend.

Since Bob Dylan won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature, will the scholars in Literature place his quotes along side the great works?
How about this gem from 1965:
"In the dime stores and bus stations,
People talk of situations,
Read books, repeat quotations,
Draw conclusions on the wall.
Some speak of the future,
My love she speaks softly,
She knows there's no success like failure
And that failure's no success at all."

SO many good lines....The movie wrote: Marty: It's pretty.
Nigel: Yeah, I like it, just been fooling about with it for a few months now, very delicate...
Marty: It's a, it's a bit of a departure from the kind of thing you normally play.
Nigel: Yeah, it's part of a...trilogy really, a musical trilogy I'm doing... in... D minor, which I always find is really the saddest of all keys really. I don't know why, but it makes people weep instantly, you play a..baaaaa...baaaaaa.... it's the horn part.
Marty: It's very pretty.
Nigel: ...baaaa, baaaaa, yeah, just simple lines intertwining, you know very much like, I'm really influenced by Mozart and Bach. It's sort of in between those, really, it's like a Mach piece really, it's...
Marty: What do you call this?
Nigel: Well, this piece is called "Lick My Love Pump."

Ashore on a Friday that I thought was going to be consumed by a rabbit-filled quest. It reminds me that the reason we chase rabbits is that they sometimes turn out to be the real thing. In this case, it was a close call for me. After “happening to notice” something, the voice of experience in my head told me to forget it. It was a coincidence, and only a partial one at that. Nothing to see here, folks. But I am nothing, if not a rabbitual offender. Maybe there’s another “coincidence”? Let's see. The next thing I know, I’m on my way. My lesson (re)learned is: Don’t spend too much time chasing a rabbit, but just as importantly, don’t spend TOO LITTLE time on one, because a rabbit it may not necessarily be. This is a dandy and very clever meta.
