Count me on the ship. I’ve looked at this off and on all weekend and I’ve got nothing. I’m either going to kick myself when I see the answer or it’s going to be an I never would’ve gotten that kind of situation. Couple more hours and we’ll see…

Usually found struggling with the meta late Saturday and Sunday night.

My hail Mary was submitted exactly at midnight. Probably would not be accepted.

Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

A quickly disregarded red herring for me was ETTA above James Polk. I thought ETTA-JAMES-POLK might be the kind of connect four Matt was looking for. For all you budding setters, this might be a good basis for an interesting meta.

Huh? Can the solution be explained another way? I still don't see it. I got the four-letter words/group, but how does that get to FLINTSTONE?

Great job Ben! And lest we forget, a tip of the hat to Alan Reed, the original voice of Fred Flintstone.

Because it has to be a separate “word” in the answer to be consistent with the others.MileHighSolver wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 12:21 am Whoa whoa whoa… why would Mighty Mouse count? GHTY are right next to each other too!

I don’t see it either. I like to learn from the ones I miss.

The H isn't connected to T. The theme entry letters are adjacent, and in order.MileHighSolver wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 12:21 am Whoa whoa whoa… why would Mighty Mouse count? GHTY are right next to each other too!
