"When In Rome" by benchen71
Welcome to...
benchen71's Metas on a Tuesday (MOAT)
Can you storm the castle by getting across the MOAT? This puzzle is a milestone of sorts. See if you can work out what it is! The answer to the meta is an appropriate book of the Bible (but with "Rome" in the puzzle title, let me assure you that it isn't "Romans"!)
The easiest way to submit is on Crosshare (and you get instant feedback and unlimited attempts!) But you can also PM me with your submission. Either way, I'll compile a list of those who successfully solve the meta.
Please consider supporting Crosshare. I wouldn't be constructing crosswords without this site!
When In Rome - Crosshare
When In Rome - PUZ
When In Rome - PDF
When In Rome - spreadsheet
Nudges are here.
The solution is here.

Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

I crossed the moat with my cart full of parsnips. Thanks, Ben.

MOAT crossed, congratulations!

PS: If you want help with a meta, PM what you have so I can help without spoiling too much. I've received lots of help in the beginning and I love to pay it forward!

Third time this week a puzzle has been difficult because it was too easy.
Fun puzzle. Thanks. Moat crossed... kicked a few flagstones and wandered aimlessly into a stable or two but got into the castle and slammed the door behind me.

My Entry to the May 2024 CrossHare Midi Contest
Not a meta, but, yeesh!, that was tough to create.

MOAT crossed, Bible reading completed, accomplishment recognized. But Ben, Cricket, really! Having lived in GB for a few years I knew the answer but otherwise it would have been a sticky wicket and I'd have been a regular or golden duck!
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

What's with all the parsnips? Did I miss an issue of the weekly parchment?

Finally crossed. With some help. I feel like a moron for not getting it sooner.
Congrats, Ben!

Well I am STILL feeling like a moron. And I can recite the list of Bible books from memory, all 66. True confession: have submitted a dozen of them as WAGs, but no luck. Will keep staring… and waiting for nudges.
The other Wendy.
