45. Time for a Change

I made a list, I checked it twice, and I realized that pretty much everyone who would want to solve the meta has solved it, so there will be a reveal after all! You're thrilled, I can tell.

---

1. Puzzle #44 recap

Puzzle #44 answer: TINSEL

Correct entries: 57 (close to a record!)

Image

Pretty straightforward: The very anagram-friendly TINSEL has most of its sensible anagrams in the grid above. That, coupled with the title (two words that were anagrams of each other), should swiftly get us our meta answer.

---

2. It's the last meta of 2022! There's enough to chew on here that we might get to a Level 3, which I'll put it at to be safe (so Level 37 for those who think I underestimate my puzzles).

---

45. Time for a Change

The answer to the meta is a common 8-word phrase.

---

Good luck, and may all your solves be beautiful. See you next year!

Fun puzzle, thanks!

I had a guess before I started and quickly found confirming evidence, but it took another pass through after finishing the grid to find all the pieces.

Happy New Year’s!

Over the ivy!

Sorry. Tried to think of a fitting Cubs-related catchphrase. Yuck.

Thanks, Mikey! Have a great 2023!

I have submitted a likely answer. Happy new year, everyone!
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Puzzling and fun - thanks for the kick off to the year Mikey! Took me a bit but I finally found my way home (actually back-solved it I suppose). Whatever, it was a fun trip.

Always glad to give you some fun to start 2023!

I think I forgot the deadline, which will be Monday, January 9 at 1 pm.

And, why not, let's get nudgy!

Thursday Nudges:

1. The two longest across entries are your first clue.

2. What is a much easier 3-letter way to say each of these words?

3. Beyond that, a lot of entries and clues don't seem quite right.

4. It looks like some of them (4 in all) have a 3-letter word removed that should have been there.

5. It also looks like some of them (4 more!) have a 3-letter word added that shouldn't be there.

6. There is a well-known phrase (two 4-word pieces) that is visually represented by all of these changes.

7. Note, also, how the clues to the two longest entries start. These are the only instances of these opposite prepositions anywhere in any of the clues!

See if that helps! I'll be solving some of your creations this weekend!

Well that helped -- had 1/2 of it, but didn't really twig to there being a whole 'nother half. Got it now -- nice one!

This was a fun challenge! (I did not use the nudges — just found this one and needed something to do after I did the Gaffney easy one). Great idea and well executed!
