53. Discard Pile
PDF and PUZ
Crosshare
---
Hello, all! It's time to rock and roll with our end-of-month meta, delayed a week due to a great bundle (see below). A few notes:
1. I would only presume that everybody here is going to order, or has already ordered, CCCC, and I was honored to contribute my own meta. I thank all of you for solving! (And thank you, @AnswerPfinder, for putting it all together!)
2. The Summer of Solves is back!
Beginning in two weeks on Saturday, May 20, I will be posting a meta every Saturday (!) for 16 consecutive weeks, with difficulty in general following MGWCC conventions. I had a lot of fun doing this last year, and I look forward to sharing more of my creations with you again in '23!
Now onto this puzzle!
---
53. Discard Pile
The answer to the meta is often discarded.
Deadline is Tuesday, May 16 at 1 pm ET.
---
Best of luck, and may all your solves be beautiful!

Kinda weird-I solved this one very quickly (about 15 minutes) and was confirmed on Crossshare but my name is not on the leaderboard. Is anyone else having this issue?

Loved the variety of clues, but particularly the punny ones, of course!
Happy to solve this one because as regards the "you either see it or you don't" WSJ, I'm one of the don'ts.
Thanks for the puzzle, Mikey!

My CCCC brain is slowly becoming unfogged. Another nice one, my friend. Looking forward to the SOS

My CCCC brain is mostly fogged from yours, bahaha. No nudges just yet, but my brain has been so racked the last couple of days with it!
Puzzle note: There was a typo in 17-A, which should and now reads "Every 3,600,000 milliseconds." This slight was not meta-related.
Onward!

It took resubmitting to get my name listed as a solver. As Matt says "Better late than never"

Fun puzzle as always!
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

My Entry to the May 2024 CrossHare Midi Contest
Not a meta, but, yeesh!, that was tough to create.

After the weekend, we're clocking in at 29 entries, making this one play more like a 2.5 so far. Fine by me! I think we can push toward the half-century mark for this one, with nudges in a couple of days.
In my own updates nobody asked for, I'm 10/16 through CCCC but have yet to get to the MMM and the MOAT this week. I also brainstorm ideas and have about half of them already squared away, including some grids, for SOS. Also look forward to SSS and AAA (Association of Acronyms Aficionados).
