A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.
EDIT: Guess what? Brilliant old me decided to make a slight change after the puzzle went through testing ... and removed an entry that needed to be there for the meta .
Please solve the meta pretending as though there is the entry HURT in the grid somewhere.
Thank you for understanding and sorry for the rocky rollout this week.

Quick alert: I've been informed of some discrepancies between the puz and pdf files. Still working on a fix. I'll let you know as soon as it's resolved. Sorry about that and thanks to boharr for the heads up.
Ok I figured out the problem. The .puz file is not clueing one-letter words, so the numbering is messed up. Please everyone use just the pdf or the web-hosted version. Thanks!

Is there a non color version for those of us who solve on paper?

Catching up on missed puzzles (thanks Texas power companies for the loss of power) as I get back online post winter storm.
An answer submitted that is the best I could come up with, though didn't quite click for me though each of the steps seems certain.
Nope - incorrect, needed a small course correction to get to the intended answer.
