MEOW #129 Body Count
The meta answer is an apt 7 letter word.
Oh, and if the Captain can have HIS own rating system, here is the DrTom one:
• Sniffles/Common Cold
High Blood Pressure
Blood Clot
Heart Attack
This translates to the more well known:
• Kitten/Calico
Persian
Puma
Lion

Thanks, but how did you feel about the meta?

After getting stumped by DrTom's "Before and After" (despite his multiple helpful nudges) I have freed the cat from the bag. I enjoyed the quick fill and even the rabbit hole spelunking before I managed to see the obvious. Fun meta! Thanks DrTom!

Cat removed, but is finding life outside the bag expensive.
Lots of fun!
Thanks, DrTom.

The cat has fled the bag. Headed for a cardboard box. Thanks, Dr. T!

Debagged the feline, thanks Dr Tom. Some real diabolical cluing in there - groans and chuckles!

The cat is free. Nice one, Tom!

The cat, with all body parts present and accounted for, is out of the bag.

So fun! I would do Dr. Tom’s puzzles just for the fill. As a former EMT I am ashamed to admit that I needed Google.
Favorite clues were 35A, 49A, and 12D. There were a LOT of good ones but these were great. I love the little aha moments going from bewilderment to belly laughs.

Thanks for a most fun puzzle and meta. Loved the cluing - particularly 12D. And your rating system, which is spot-on this week - just what the doctor ordered!

Oh my, in my experience cats that end up in a cardboard box will soon 67A! That was "last stop before Boot Hill" when I was growing up.
